Wind Turbine Blade manufacturing Plant - Engineer Jobs UK

Construction of new wind turbine blade manufacturing plant has begun which will also help to create new civil engineer jobs UK once completed.

In the presence of Prime Minister Gordon Brown, the erection of Clipper Windpower's 4,000-square metre facility on the Neptune Estate in Tyneside was formally launched last week, with construction work on the site expected to be completed by the 3rd quarter of this year.

It seems that this plant will hire more than 500 local engineers and will also boost civil engineering recruitment once it begins to manufacture blades for a 10 megawatt offshore wind turbine prototype, the Britannia project, as of 2012.

James Dehlsen, Clipper chairman stated that:" Over the next few years, with the development of the Britannia turbine, the UK will benefit...with economic activity related to turbine manufacturing, offshore installation and long term operations and servicing."

Moreover, the Energy Technologies' Institute announced that it would create 300 civil engineering jobs through the development of a wind turbine testing rig at the New and Renewable Energy Centre in Blyth, Northumbria.
